MEP design engineers plan HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting and electrical services for buildings. This roadmap moves from AutoCAD drafting to AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP modelling and Navisworks coordination.
Learn drawing, editing, layers, blocks and plotting so you can read architectural plans and produce basic services layouts.
Lay out ducts, pipes, plumbing fixtures and electrical devices with intelligent objects, and produce plans, sections and schedules for building services.
Build HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and electrical systems in a BIM model linked to the architectural model, with sizing, schedules and sheets.
Combine models from all disciplines, run clash tests, report issues and review construction sequences so services fit before work starts on site.
Turn model and drawing data into BOQs, equipment lists and tracking sheets using formulas, tables and sorting.
Finish the program and its project — you get the course-completion certificate and a digital completion badge with your name.
Take the certification exam: a theory test on the software of the program and a practical task of the job — at the centre or online.
Pass the exam and get the certified certificate with your marksheet. Anyone can check it online with its QR code.
Your certified badge — add it to LinkedIn and share it anywhere; it opens its own verify page.
Make your CV in your student panel (Career → My CV) — your program, certificates and projects are added for you. Send it as a link with a preview picture, apply to jobs and answer Hire Me requests from companies.

An MEP design engineer designs and draws the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services inside a building: air conditioning and ventilation ducts, chilled water and drainage pipes, water supply, fire sprinkler and hydrant lines, lighting and power. The work covers layouts, sections, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, quantity take-offs and shop drawings, and more and more of it is delivered as a coordinated 3D BIM model.
A big part of the job is coordination. Ducts, pipes and cable trays all compete for the same ceiling space, so the MEP team merges its models with the architectural and structural models, finds clashes and resolves them before construction starts.
MEP engineers work for MEP consultants, HVAC and fire-fighting contractors, building services firms, real estate developers, and BIM outsourcing companies that model projects for clients in the Middle East, UK, USA and Australia. Hospitals, airports, metro stations, data centres and commercial towers all depend on well-designed services, which keeps demand steady.
Start with AutoCAD 2D and AutoCAD MEP for services drawings, then learn Revit MEP for BIM modelling and Navisworks for coordination. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and fire-fighting basics, plus a small building project in your portfolio, helps you get hired.
MEP stands for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing. In buildings it usually includes HVAC, water supply, drainage, fire protection, lighting, power and low-voltage systems.
Many consultants and BIM outsourcing firms now ask for Revit MEP because projects are delivered as BIM models. AutoCAD is still used for 2D shop drawings, so knowing both is useful.
This roadmap takes about 214 hours: AutoCAD 2D 30, AutoCAD MEP 60, Revit MEP 60, Navisworks 40 and MOS Excel Associate 24. Design calculations such as heat load are learned alongside on real projects.
An MEP design engineer designs and models services. A BIM coordinator combines models from all disciplines, runs clash detection, manages model standards and leads coordination meetings. Many coordinators start as MEP modellers.
Yes. Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP and Navisworks are taught in live online classes and in classrooms. Practising on a complete small building model is the quickest way to become job-ready.
